The iPhone 5 is set to land in August as much more than a mere iPhone 4 update, according to 'a reliable source'. Speaking to BGR, the source claims that the new iPhone will feature a "radical new case design", rather than simply a
couple of minor cosmetic updates that other sources have said to
expect.
This echoes comments made by 'extremely accurate' sources back in January 2011. Unfortunately, the tipster didn't offer any titbits about how the new case will look, nor did they come up with any suspected spec.
Date night
A new release date has also entered the iPhone 5 fray, with the source dismissing the many rumours of a September release and opting instead for a completely un-Apple like August event.
More specifically, the iPhone 5 launch date could fall in the beginning or middle of August, with the release date hitting in the last week of the month. Whether these rumours prove to be true or not, we're not complaining about having the promise of the iPhone 5 as a glistening oasis at the end of a long, phoneless summer – even if it does turn out to be a mirage.
